Hair is one of the most challenging features to draw in the human portrait, especially when working from the imagination. The complexity of hair leads many beginners to just give up and scribble, resulting in the kind of mess that artists sometimes call “spaghetti hair.” Hair doesn’t have to be difficult, though, and in fact can be one of the more enjoyable parts of the portrait to draw. Read more...Watching drawing videos is a great way to learn to draw, as you can watch demos in real time and observe the process I go through in creating the work. I think videos are the best way to start learning any new drawing skill.
When watching these demos, I recommend you not try and follow along with your own drawing, at least not on the first viewing. Many of these drawing videos have a follow-up tutorial, which is better suited for trying to draw along with.
